Additionally, the Iowa Flyers are putting on three Basketball Tournaments this year.   Details can be on the SI website at http://www.sportsiowa.us/basketballtourney/.   You can register for each tourney either on the website, or by clicking on the links below or email Brett at the Iowa Flyers.

• Holiday Classic on December 21st
• Ice Jam ’20 on January 25th
• Spring Fling on March 7th

Adult 7v7 Open Rec November Signup

First week is November 6th

• We require 14 players signed up by 5pm on the Tuesday to play
• Up to 21 players can play
• No Referee.  The Ames Hurricanes will balance the teams and provide on field guidance
• Please bring 1 red, 1 white jersey/t-shirt
• If we have more than 14 players, we swap into the game every 10 minutes
• Played on Field 1 (200′ x 100′ turf)
• SportsIowa will email status of the event to signups at 8pm on Tuesday night

Please respect your fellow players.  If you sign up, please show up.  Life does happen, so if it does please let us know at 515.509.2263 or [email protected] so we can work with the other players.

Signing up for multiple weeks?   You can do that in one payment.

• When the scheduling calendar comes up.  Select the first date
• Then select ‘Recurring’, (not continue)
• You’ll be prompted for the number of dates.  Choose the number of weeks until the last date you want to purchase
• Click ‘Add recurring times’.  This adds all the Wednesdays between the first date and the last date
• If you want all those dates, then click ‘Continue’.  If you don’t, just click on the trash can to delete out the dates you don’t want.
• As an example, if you wanted November 6 and November 20 you would
  • Bring up the Scheduling Calendar (click on the big red button above)
  • Click on November 7 in the calendar
  • Choose Recurring
  • Choose 4 from the drop down next to the word times (on the right)
  • Choose ‘Add recurring times’
  • Delete out the dates November 14 and November 21 by clicking on the trash can
  • Click continue and then fill in the credit card information

Middle School Fun Night this Friday (the 1st)

SportsIowa will be hosting a Friday Night Fun Night for Middle School students on November 1^st from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. 

Activities include Basketball, Volleyball, Dodgeball & Soccer.  Popcorn and soft drinks will be provided free of charge with other concessions available for purchase.  

Students need to pre-register and fill out a waiver and code of conduct which all can be done on our website at www.sportsiowa.us/FunNight.  The cost is $15 per child for 3 hours of fun and activities and the event will be limited to 75 kids. 

Your participation benefits the Ames Middle School Mock Trial team as they plot their path toward putting a team in the state competition for the 4th consecutive year!

Flyers Basketball Club

The Iowa Flyers are happy to announce that we are starting the FLYERS BASKETBALL CLUB this winter for Ames area Boys in grades 3rd-6th.  The club will have all practices at SportsIowa Indoor Complex in West Ames, and all players will be able to utilize the courts for open gym and additional practice outside team practices.  This is not an elite club, it is a school level club that will only play in area booster club tournaments against similar teams.  All abilities and experience are welcome to join us!

Ames Chamber of Commerce – PILOT Program

Great to see all the area youth out with the Chamber of Commerce to learn about the Chamber’s PILOT program. Had a great day of learning and having fun!

Adult Soccer Update

As we begin our 5th season at SportsIowa, we’ve been listening to our players and we’ve made a few changes in our Adult Soccer Program. First, a list of our Adult Soccer Programs

• Adult 7v7 League Soccer
• Adult 35+ League Soccer
• Adult 7v7 Rec (pickup) Soccer
• Adult 4v4 Rec (pickup) Soccer

These are similar to what we’ve done previously, but now you’ll find the schedule for the entire 2019-2020 season (Sep 1, 2019- Aug 31, 2020) on the website at www.sportsiowa.us/adult-soccer

We now offer individual (rather than team) pricing and have created bundles (called memberships) to save you money the more you play. More information on different membership packages at our website. www.sportsiowa.us/adult-soccer-memberships

Now we provide you the option of

1. Pay one time for a whole year of soccer. All 5 seasons and all the rec soccer you careto play for one low payment.
2. Pay for just the school-year, or winter soccer. Similar but for folks who only play Sep-Apr or Nov-Mar.
3. Continue to pay for just the league or rec soccer event you want to play.

Great to see Ames Storm Baseball out here for tryouts this week on Monday and Wednesday from 6-8pm!

FC1988 wins the Adult Iowa Games

Quick tip o’ the hat for FC1988, who won the Iowa games adult 11 v 11.

FC1988 plays in many of our leagues and it’s great to see them out having fun and representing Ames in the Iowa games.
